“… am looking forward to being able to expand my business through EggDrop”
“I found this app is a great way to save money and time”

“Everyone who I’ve been in contact with was extremely helpful and very nice”

Spring Cleaning With EggDrop!
Spring is here! Tuesday March 20th marked the official end of winter and kicks off an annual tradition for millions: Spring Cleaning!

Spring is considered the “season of rebirth” and represents an opportunity for a new beginning: out with the old, in with the new. People are cleaning out their closets, garages and attics, looking to de-clutter their lives.
Many people find that de-cluttering and deep cleaning rubs off (pun intended) emotionally, resulting in a more positive outlook on life. Some health professionals are taking that a step further, warning that disorganization can have negative consequences:
“We are all products of our environments, and vice versa, since the environments we create reflect and affect our physical, mental, and emotional health. When life becomes messy or disorderly, our physical as well as mental/emotional health can also get muddled and we become less energetic and less efficient.”
In the past, unloading all those unwanted items has proved to be a hassle for some, but no longer! With EggDrop, Spring Cleaning is not only hassle-free, but profitable!
Selling items on EggDrop is a snap with our simple uploading process and finding a buyer has never been easier thanks to our growing number of EggDrop users.
Spring Cleaning Photo Contest
From now till the end of April, send us before and after pictures of your garage, attic, storage unit, family/play room at community@eggcartel.com. We’ll send you a great looking EggDrop T-shirt. Start the spring season on the right foot. Get yourself organized. Spring cleaning is spring selling on EggDrop.
Half A Million Downloads and Counting

We’re excited to announce that EggDrop has been downloaded over half a million times on iOS and Android devices. This is a huge milestone, we could not have done it without the support of our users. More impressively, since launching EggDrop 2.0 in November, over $8M in listings were posted in the U.S. and the U.K. alone.
We’re excited to see that our vision of building a frictionless mobile marketplace and making it really easy for everyone to save money, make money, reuse/recycle, and connect with neighbors in a safe and friendly environment is shared by so many of you. Our team of 5 engineers (Brian, Catherine, Clay, Jason, and myself) are working hard to make EggDrop even better. We welcome your feedback and suggestions at feedback@eggcartel.com.

Egganomics: Finding Time for Busy Parents
Between work and school and afterschool activities and sports and making dinner and doing homework, there just aren’t enough hours in the day for today’s busy parents. Families are constantly on the go and many moms and dads out there have adopted a mobile lifestyle relying on their Smartphones to help them navigate through their busy days and nights.

So how does EggDrop fit into this? Have a look at some recent comments from our users and see if you can find the recurring theme:
“Great app – loved being quickly able to take a pic.”
“I absolutely love how quick I can post things on your listings and on Craigslist.”
“The app is super user friendly! In a matter of seconds I can post my items.”
“I had the pleasure of posting a (phone) case for my daughter’s phone. It took me less than five minutes. I used my phone for the entire thing, from taking & posting the picture to writing the info.”
One thing our users have made clear: Time is of the Essence! For many parents, there simply isn’t time to spend sitting in front of a home computer, browsing or posting items. They need the ability to do these things on the fly, anywhere and at any time.
We’ve taken this into consideration, providing a selling tool that is quick and easy to use. Did you know 1 in 4 homes with 2 car garages can’t park a car there due to clutter? Getting rid of clutter eliminates 40% of housework. Just imagine the time you now have for movies, spa, exercise, dining out, reading …
Check out our profiles with Katie and Vian, two moms who have had successful sales on EggDrop. Like many of you, they have busy lives, juggle multiple responsibilities, and are constantly on the go.

Barcelona Gets a Taste of EggDrop!

We just got back from Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain and what a trip! Mobile World Congress is considered the mobile industry’s “must attend” event with more than 60,000 visitors from around the globe. EggDrop was a featured app at the popular Google Android booth and we were one of only twenty 3rd party apps chosen by Google to be showcased.

Over the four-day conference, more than 40,000 people made their way through the Android booth and we met and gave demos to people from dozens of countries including U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Korea, China, Japan, Poland, Argentina, Brazil and many others. The feedback was universal: people from all over the world found EggDrop to be a “brilliant idea!” Here’s a clip of us giving a demo.

While there was certainly a lot of work going on, there was also time for play! One of the more popular activities going on in the Android booth was pin collecting. There were 86 Android pins in the set and EggDrop became the unofficial trading post as MWC attendees tried to complete their collection.

We’re proud to say we collected each and every pin and put them on an EggDrop shirt, which became an attraction all on its own with many people taking pictures.

Google pulled out all the stops to lure in visitors. In addition to the booths and pins, there was a giant Android slide for visitors to play on, a smoothie bar, an arcade-style “crane” game and an actual robot that made bejeweled Android cases. In addition, Google handed out 9,000 ice cream sandwiches to MWC patrons. Check out this video for a closer look!
There was one bit of drama: While the mood of the event inside was a positive one, outside was a different story. Students protesting cuts to education resulted in a large police response outside the venue, and several roads and subway stations were temporarily closed. As a result, we had to exit through the back of the building at the end of the day.

All in all, Mobile World Congress was a huge success for EggDrop. It was an honor to be recognized by Google as a standout app and we are grateful for the experience. While we were sad to see it end, we are inspired knowing that in sharing our Egganomic message with thousands of people from around the globe, we were able to make new friends and grow our EggDrop community worldwide.
Egganomics: No Money? No Problem!
Who says nothing in life is free? We at EggDrop beg to differ!
One of the categories on our site is “free,” where people looking to get rid of items can do just that. Let’s take a quick jaunt around the U.S. and see what people are offering up for nothing in return:
New York, NY:
Just in time for March Madness… Someone is giving away a television!

Seattle, WA:
What else would you expect from the home of Starbucks: A free coffeemaker!

San Francisco, CA:
Time to organize your life? Here’s a free filing cabinet!

You never know what you’ll find for free on EggDrop, so don’t forget to look!
And while free items lend itself to the cause of making EggDrop a friendly, community atmosphere, it also speaks to the issue of reuse.
Too often, these types of items end up on a curbside or in a landfill. EggDrop’s “free” category can help prevent that. We are proud to be playing a part in the Green Movement, keeping blight off our streets and reusing perfectly good items.
If you have items you want to get rid of and don’t want to bother selling, we urge you to list them for free. Chances are you’ll find a taker. It’s a win for you as you’ll be unloading unwanted goods, a win for the taker who gets something for free and it’s a win for the environment as well.
“The Right Person Usually Comes Along”

We’ve found our latest good neighbor on EggDrop… this time in Southern California. Her name is Vian and she is a professional make up artist, licensed cosmetologist and mother of three kids with a taste for vintage and antique items.
“It was easy to use”
Vian came to EggDrop late last year after seeing the app in the iTunes store. She had already been selling items on Ebay but wasn’t happy with shipping fees and was looking for an alternative way to sell items.
Vian saw many benefits to EggDrop right out of the gate: “It was easy to use, you can list photos, EggDrop automatically relists your items, sends you text message alerts and email when you get an offer or question, and when your item sells there are no fees… and did I mention all of this is free?”
Egganomics in Action

So Vian began to put Egganomics to work for her listing a vintage 1950’s lighter from Vietnam. The first offer came in, but unfortunately the would-be buyer backed out (BAD KARMA SCORE!) Vian, however, wasn’t discouraged: “I got another offer for it in the afternoon. The buyer said this lighter was going to be a gift for his father who had been in the Vietnam War, and would bring him a lot of memories and sentimental value. I knew it would end up with the right person. The right person usually comes along.”
Vian continues to sell on EggDrop and has racked some good karma comments “Vian M is on the ball…Vian M is a good neighbor!” She says her experiences within the EggDrop community have been very positive: “There’s always a story or intention for the specific item and I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking to some really nice people.”

Most Predictable Valentine’s Day Gifts (Infographic)

Shop smart and be original, surprise your loved one with a unique gift this Valentine’s Day.
Egganomics: How NOT to be predictable this Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is approaching… have you thought about what to get for your special someone?
Flowers… candy… a card?
While it’s the thought that counts, those gifts just might make your Valentine feel like… well… everybody else.
We’ve done a bit of research and discovered that while Valentine’s Day may be the most romantic holiday, it certainly isn’t the most original!

According to the National Retail Federation, consumers are expected to shell out $17.6 billion dollars this Valentine’s Day. $12.1 billion dollars of that total will be spent on the following five gifts: Cards, Candy, Dinner/Night Out, Flowers and Jewelry. Here’s the breakdown: Cards: 52% of adults 18+ will buy cards. Total amount spent: $1 billion dollars Candy: 51% of adults 18+ will buy candy. Total amount spent: $1.5 billion dollars Dinner: 36% of adults 18+ will go out to dinner. Total amount spent: $3.6 billion dollars Flowers: 36% of adults 18+ will give flowers. Total amount spent: $1.9 billion dollars Jewelry: 19% of adults 18+ will give jewelry. Total amount spent: $4.1 billion dollars Don’t get us wrong, any of those gifts are likely to be well received and are certainly better than giving NOTHING at all… but isn’t your Valentine worth more than the status quo? One day a year is set aside for you to show your loved one just how much you care, and yet the gifts might just suggest your love is no more or less than millions of others.
This year, perhaps think outside that cellophane-wrapped, heart-shaped box of chocolates! Check out EggDrop for some cool gift ideas and make this Valentine’s Day a local, green and original holiday to remember!
